PROJECTS PERFORMED
Broadway Project - Green Light for Midtown
Performed for the New York City Department of Transportation, Planning Division.
Tasks performed for this project included:
  • Manual turning movement counts at over 30 locations.
  • Pedestrian counts at crosswalks and pedestrian plazas (by signal phase) along the Broadway and 7th Avenue corridors.
  • Travel & Delay Runs performed along north-south routes (all Avenues from 5th Ave – 11th Ave) and east-west routes (59th St – 34th St).
  • ATR counts at 100 locations.
  • Origin-Destination survey at 15 midtown locations. This task required video recording of all license plates, processing of video footage into Excel spreadsheets and license plate matching between all locations.
  • Data entry into NYCDOT format.

Over 100 surveyors were involved in each phase of the field survey.
This project was performed in March, April, August, September, November 2009.

Citiwide Pedestrian Counts
Performed for the New York City Department of Transportation, Traffic Operations Division, Pedestrian Projects.
Tasks performed for this project included:
  • Pedestrian Crosswalk Counts at 123 locations throughout the 5 Boroughs
  • Classified count (by movement) performed during fall and spring seasons on a weekday and a weekend.
  • Data entry into NYCDOT format

This project is continuously performed by ATI since 2007.

Traffic Monitoring Program - Region 11
Performed for the New York State Department of Transportation, Traffic Monitoring Section.
Tasks performed for this project included:
  • ATR counts on a weekly basis at an average of 20 locations per week
  • Manual classification counts (by FHWA categories) for a 24-hour period on a weekly basis
  • Manual turning movement counts and vehicle occupancy counts on an on-call basis
  • Data entry into NYCDOT format

This on-call contract is performed by ATI for NYSDOT since 1992 and scheduled to be performed until 2012.

Commuter Bicycle Counts
Performed for the New York City Department of Transportation, Planning Division, Bicycle Program.
Tasks performed for this project included:
  • Bicycle Counts at 6 access points to Manhattan
  • Classified count (male/female) performed on a monthly basis during a weekday and weekend
    between the hours of 7am-7pm
  • Data entry into NYCDOT format

This project is continuously performed by AI from April 2008 and is scheduled to be performed into 2010.

Westbound Counts
Performed for Port Authority of New York & New Jersey.
Deployment of ATRs on all Hudson River crossings for a 2-week period with daily calibration and monitoring.
Performed in October 2008.


Travel Times Surveys at Times Square
Performed for New York City Department of Transportation.
Included deployment of 23 vehicles for a 2-week period to collect travel time information for Midtown Manhattan. The “Floating Car” method was used.
Performed in March and May 2006.


JFK Airport Access
Access time to Kennedy Airport via major highways was collected using 4 vehicles.
Performed September 2006.


Travel Times Surveys during MTA strike
Performed for New York City Department of Transportation.
Included deployment of 22 vehicles for a 3-day period (between 5 AM – 8 PM) to collect travel time information for all major access Routes to NYC while all public transportation was not in operation.
The “Floating Car” method was used.
Performed in December 2005.
